i) Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

Ensure your equipment or plant has been completed to the required quality and meets all contractual specifications.

Our experts are available to be on-site at your production facility to provide third-party Verification that your factory acceptance tests meet the highest safety and performance standards in the industry.

Before delivery or final installation, you need to be certain that your equipment or plant has been completed to the required quality and is fully operational. Our factory acceptance test determines whether your equipment or plant operates as intended and meets all contractual specifications.

Why use a factory acceptance test from PCI QAS?

Our comprehensive factory acceptance test is the most cost-effective way to ensure that your equipment or plant operates correctly. As a highly qualified, independent third-party, we have the trusted skills and resources to perform reliable testing. Alternatively, we can witness appropriate testing on your behalf.

Our factory acceptance test helps you to:

  • Gain independent proof of functionality, quality and integrity with our comprehensive checking process
  • Verify all-important documents, such as manuals, instructions, plans, drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Ensure that your equipment or plant performs as expected under the testable range of foreseeable conditions, including misuse and error

Factory acceptance testing: Our contribution to your success

PCI QAS experts offer manufacturers, EPC contractors, owners and operators a wide range of factory acceptance testing services including:

  • Check for completeness
  • Verification against contractual requirements
  • Proof of functionality by either a conventional function test or simulation
  • Final inspection of equipment and components

Services for proof of functionality

We use conventional function tests or simulation as part of a factory acceptance test to prove that your plant, its systems and its components meet contractual requirements. This includes the verification of documents such as manuals, plans, drawings as well as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Final inspection services

We conduct the final inspection according to the specifications you approved. This may include checking conformity of drawings and documents, inspecting nameplate data, general appearance and verifying the quality of painting and coating.

  • Marking, packaging and visual control,
  • Supervision of activities such as loading, unloading, storing and transporting,
  • Conveyor and warehouse cleaning control

vii) Consignment Based Conformity Assessment (CBCA)

  • Consignment Based Conformity Assessment is a process through which goods to be shipped are certificated as conforming to national and international standards and technical regulations.
  • Consignment Based Conformity Assessment is solely valid for the consignment/batch that is subject to inspection at that time.

viii) Vendor Assessment

  • Within the scope of the Vendor Assessment Service, vendors are assessed by our Institution as a 3rd party on behalf of our customers, in accordance with the related system standards and criteria determined with the customers.

ix) Third Party Inspection of Conformity to Customer´s Specifications

  • 3rd Party Inspection of Conformity to Customer’s Specifications is the assessment of the good purchased by the customer by a 3rd party in order to determine if the good meets requirements or not.
  • During performance of the services, our expert staff supervises inspections and experiments determined in the specification in case of necessity.

x) Market Surveillance

  • Market Surveillance and Inspection is an activity performed by a public authority to inspect if technical rules determined by public authority for the goods are followed or not.
  • In this context, the general purpose of Market Surveillance activities is to protect consumers from dangerous products and ensure that commercial enterprises carry out their legal obligations related to supply of compliant and safe goods to the market.

xi) Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC)

What is quality assurance and quality control (qa/qc)?

  • Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) are two different activities that are part of quality management. QA is focussed on the process used to measure and provide confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled, thereby preventing defects. Examples of QA activities include the examination and coordination of production documents and manufacturing supervision. QC is the process that ensures that the quality requirements are indeed met by identifying and correcting defects. This includes the inspection of semi-finished products before and after processing.

Why is quality management important?

  • New build plant projects are always expected to be completed in a timely and cost-effective manner while complying with national and international regulations and requirements. Having a good quality management programme minimises defects and enables smooth transition through all phases of the project. In addition, ensuring the quality of structures, components, equipment and systems in a plant may improve its operability, availability, reliability, and maintainability throughout the rest of its lifetime.

PC&I ensures that your plant is built to quality standards.

  • From the design stage, we ensure that your components are compliant with relevant standards and requirements. Our experts can conduct tests on components at your suppliers’ site and recommend any adjustments required during the manufacturing process to ensure that they can meet your specifications, timeline and budget.
  • With our global multidisciplinary pool of experts which include welding engineers, welding technicians and inspectors experienced with the requirements of the power plant, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
